If you are locked out of your car because you left your keys inside of your car or because you lost the keys to your car, there are a few things that you can do about the situation.

Start by Checking Your Vehicle

If you are locked out of your vehicle, the first thing you need to do is assess the situation. Start by checking each of your doors and the truck and making sure that they are all locked. You may be able to get back into your vehicle via an unlocked trunk, or perhaps the back door is unlocked.

As you walk around your vehicle, check and see if any of the windows are rolled down. If you have any windows that are rolled down, you can easily use your arm or a tool to unlock your vehicle.

Call a Friend

The second thing you can do is call a friend. If you have a spare set of keys at home, you can see if your friend can swing by your house to pick up your spare keys. Even better, if your friend or family member has a spare set of keys to your vehicle, they can bring them to you.

If you are locked out of your vehicle somewhere where you don't feel comfortable, you can call a friend to pick you up, or call a friend and see if they can come to where you are at so you can wait in their vehicle for professional help to arrive.

Call for Professional Help

If you can't easily get into your vehicle, don't try to force your way into your vehicle. Trying to use tools to force your door open can damage your lock and your door frame and end up costing you more in the long run than it would have for you to just pay for professional help unlocking the door in the first place.

When you call for professional help, give them as much detail as possible about where you are located. For example, if you are locked out at the mall, tell them the aisle number and how far down the aisle your vehicle is located. Or if you are locked out at a small store, let them know the nearest cross-streets, the address of the store, and where you are in the parking lot.

If you will not be waiting by your vehicle and instead found a safe location to wait for help to arrive, let the emergency lockout service know that as well so that they can call you or come and get you when they arrive to unlock your vehicle.

If you are locked out of your vehicle, quickly check your vehicle to make sure you are really locked out. Call a friend to come and wait with you, or bring you a second set of keys. Call for professional car lockout services, and give the professional as much detail as you can about the situation you find yourself in.
